Tom Helton is a co-founder of EvE Bio. He holds a PhD in cell biology and an MBA in biosciences management from North Carolina State University. He brings 20 years of experience in cellular and molecular neuroscience and neuropharmacology to EvE, including five years as a principal scientist and lab head in the neuroscience research unit at a major pharmaceutical company, where he helped implement the use of new technologies such optogenetics and microendoscopy to accelerate drug discovery for neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases as well as identify and investigate novel genomic targets linked to schizophrenia and major depression. Most recently Tom served as project manager of a multimillion-dollar DARPA-funded research program investigating psychedelic-derived compounds for use in treatment-resistant forms of major depression, schizophrenia, and PTSD. In his free time you can find Tom brewing beer, going fast around a racetrack, or spending countless hours playing fetch with his dog Harley.
